The Environment Agency are champions of the environment and believe in leading by example. Their Southern Region has a five year Internal Environment Management strategy, with clear targets for minimising the environmental impact of their activities in six key areas, energy, renewables, water, waste, mileage and carbon.
This ongoing internal communications campaign has two objectives. Firstly, to ensure that the Region’s staff understand what has been achieved so far, and secondly to explain what they can do to help meet future targets.
Pogo developed a strong creative concept for this campaign, which was applied to a range of media including posters, postcards, presentations and ambient. These were well received and have been made available to the Environment Agency’s other regions across the country.

On-Call Firefighters Toolkit launched
Before working with the Department of Communities & Local Government on their new On-Call Firefighters Toolkit, I didn’t appreciate how many firefighters work on a stand-by basis with jobs elsewhere. They actually represent 30% of all firefighters in England and attend the same incidents and emergencies as their full-time colleagues. They really do play a vital part in protecting their communities and saving lives.
The On-Call Firefighters Toolkit was launched on 29th October by Fire Minister Shahid Malik at the ‘Fire Professionals On Call’ conference in London.

iphoneography is a new craze using the iphone camera and various apps like Camera bag and polarize. It’s instant, throw away, capturing that fleeting moment but it sometimes produces some great shots, check out the Flickr group. The iphone has been so successful over the last few years that even artists of the calibre of David Hockney are embracing its technology to create art. Here are some images off my iphone.

Working with the Department for Communities & Local Government, Pogo developed a communications toolkit for individual Fire & Rescue Services to use with employers in their local area. It’s designed to increase employers’ awareness of the On-Call system and explain how it works, while highlighting the many benefits it can bring to their business.
